49ers v. Jaguars live blog: Pregame

This is the live blog for the pregame of the 49ers’ Week 8 game in London against the Jaguars. I’ll update this frequently with information and analysis from my living room.

8:35 The 49ers’ inactives are LaMichael James, Jon Baldwin, McLeod Bethel-Thompson, Quinton Patton, Nnamdi Asomugha, Jermaine Cunningham and Joe Looney. It must be discouraging for James to be inactive against the Jaguars. If he can’t play against the Jaguars, he can’t play against anyone as long as Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter are healthy.

8:50 Is this game going to be more of the same – a lot of Frank Gore, Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis, or is this the game we see something new on offense? Will the 49ers use this as an opportunity to experiment and establish other players?

8:52 The Jaguars have a decent running backs – Maurice Jones-Drew – and two decent wide receivers – Cecil Shorts and Justin Blackmon. And Chad Henne has a decent arm. But he is a statue and he holds onto the ball and he takes sacks. If the 49ers’ pass rush shows up today, they should negate the entire Jaguars’ offense.

9:45 For what it’s worth, the Jaguars have given up 3.9 yards per carry and the 49ers have given up 4.8 yards per carry the past three games.

9:51 Anthony Dixon is on the trading block according to NFL.com: “Another player on the block, according to @NFL execs: #49ers RB Anthony Dixon. In a RB-needy league, he’s only making $630,000. We’ll see”  https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/394505886972268544
