As you probably have heard, Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson is selling his team. Sports Illustrated reports he secretly paid off victims of sexual harassment and racism in the work place.
On Saturday night, rap mogul Diddy tweeted that he wants to buy the Panthers and sign Colin Kaepernick.
I would like to buy the @Panthers. Spread the word. Retweet!
— Diddy (@Diddy) December 18, 2017
Less than two hours later, Warriors point guard Stephen Curry tweeted that he wants to join Diddy’s ownership group. Curry grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina.
I️ want in! https://t.co/XvvC1vo7xI
— Stephen Curry (@StephenCurry30) December 18, 2017
Monday Morning, Kaepernick tweeted that he wants to be part of Diddy’s ownership group, too.
I want in on the ownership group! Let’s make it happen! https://t.co/sDR4ciciY8
— Colin Kaepernick (@Kaepernick7) December 18, 2017
I think this would be fantastic for the NFL. Diddy would make a great owner. He’s arguably the best executive producer in rap history. Bad Boy Records ruled.
But, Kaepernick? Why does he want to own the team? I thought he still wants to play? I guess not.
Don’t tell me; if they don’t allow him to buy the Panthers, he’ll file another law suit for collusion…am I right?
Trump should buy them he is already a racist rich white guy
Bill Wells
Get over it you’re champion lost another crybaby liberal , and there’s no room for that kinda talk hear this football room , But I think they have crybaby sessions over there at Berkeley that you could go to
I’m no fan of Trump, but I respect he was not only able to defeat the Republican establishment, the Democratic establishment, but also the FBI, to get elected. That is some feat, in and of itself for mine….
Razor he had no little, shall we say, extracurricular help. And BTW, the FBI helped him with his election, what with that last minute nonsense about HRC’s emails.
Trump already had a pro football team he destroyed, along with the league it belonged to.
NFL won’t let him, he tried to buy the Bills a few years ago and was denied, he also once sued the NFL when he was an owner of an USFL team (and won, but actually lost).
Kinda makes you see why he tweets the stuff he does about the NFL, he’s just a spiteful little man.
I wish all these dumba$$es would just go away. Maybe Michael Bennett can join the cause as well.
I’d rather see Edward J. DeBartolo Jr. get the Panthers.
Is there any rule preventing an owner from playing for his own team? If not, this might be the only way Kaepernick gets a starting QB job. Heh!
The way he played against them…You’d think he ALREADY owned them…
So would I. For reasons that might surprise you.
Ha!

Yeah, we should have kept that guy. Not.
:-)
Sebbie wrote passionately about the loss of Kerley–saying that the 9ers would deeply regret having him depart.
Isn’t it a bit early for April Fools jokes????????
Not sure these guys have enough net worth. Owning a franchise is for the multi-billionaire’s club these days. What would Kap’s percentage be – 0.001%?
Maybe Dr. Dre and Rick Rubin can chip in too. It’s a non story. None of these guys have the kind of wealth necessary to own a team and the NFL owners would never agree to an ownership group with Diddy at the forefront anyway. They like rich old guys like themselves.
49ers receiver Marquise Goodwin flourishing with Jimmy Garoppolo at quarterback

“After averaging 2.5 catches and 52.5 receiving yards in each of the San Francisco 49ers’ first 11 games, wide receiver Marquise Goodwin is benefiting from his new quarterback.
Since Jimmy Garoppolo was named the starting quarterback, Goodwin’s averages have jumped to eight catches and 106 receiving yards per game.”

Twitter noise…
Diddy would be fine. He’s got money. He’d be pretty amusing. Curry is boring but doesn’t have that kind of money (about 1%) despite being very wealthy. Kaepernick’s wealth wouldn’t even round-up to 1%. Plus, since he’s suing the league, he’s not getting in. Ever.
they could get M Jordan to jump in
Sean Combs is worth 800 million, give or take a few million. That is no way he could outright own a team. It would take him and Jay Z and Dre…and still they’d need another couple billion because between the two they might have 2.5 billion total net worth (and we all know that 80% of that isn’t liquid).
You’d more likely see a Walton son getting it, as they are worth 30+ billion.
Have you ever heard of financing?
Yeah, cause an NFL team and your next Honda Civic are so equatable.
I suspect that the majority of these comments are from Caucasians and should probably shut the hell up…Don’t be mad that these athletes and music artists have more money than you’ll ever see! You are not their accountant so you really don’t have a damn clue on how much they are worth…
So in your world, only non whites should be able to have an opinion?
Shut the Hell up
Smh
(just to be clear: sarcasm)
And you can **** off. :)
Has nothing to do with their race Justice, at least from my point of view. It’s about the amount of wealth needed to be a partner in this league. Almost all of them are Billionaires and the ones who aren’t like Mark Davis, inherited the teams from family.
And you think you know what they have NFL No Frigging Losers it what it stands for and two of the three is LOSERS Steph is kool
Justice
I got something for you
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof ; Or abridging the freedom of speech or of the press ; Or the right of the people Peacefully Assemble And to petition the government for a redress of grievances
When are you liberals gonna learn everybody has the right to free speech
And when are (people of all political persuasions) gonna learn the 1st amendment is protection from the government. A private citizen can tell another to shut the hell up all he wants. Like that would do any good.
An easy explanation for those still confused. The cartoon format makes it easy for even the most Constitutionally challenged.

Using the race card again!
We all know how much they are worth and none of them have a worth that starts with a B.
And since us white people cant comment and should shut the hell up, I’ll let a black man, a rapper who almost signed to Bad Boy tell you how it is.
“And that even go for Puffy who so motherf—-ng paid
That he’s richer than these White folks or at least that’s what he say
That’s what he say, that’s what he say, and them petty n—-s love it
Think about it, what’s a rapper standing next to Warren Buffett?”

You sir are a complete moron. Either ALL races have the right to speak out, or none do.

Overall Grade: C+
Just go away, Kap. Less of you is good for America.
is that you, Mr. President?
Is that you, Hitlary?
From the presser transcript…
Did you have a message? Do you say something to the offense or do you kind of go out and let things happen?
Garoppolo: “I always say something to the offense before every drive, I’m always talking on the sideline. That’s one thing that our offense does a good job of. There’s a lot of talking to each other, communicating what we saw out there. It helps us in the next drive.”
Anybody know if this has been typical of 49ers teams recently? Sounds like it should be a no-brainer, yet I’m wondering because I’ve never heard it brought up and answered quite like this before, and because I’m not sure I see any of our “pre-Jimmy” QBs as being particularly vocal?
Probably the last vocal QB was Jeff Garcia. That’s another thing that Cool J picked up from Brady.
From Joe Cool at QB to Jimmy Ghiaccio…Mama Mia! Ha trovato l’America.
From Joe Cool to Cool J.

TrollD, went full on Freddy Kreuger, mentioned he knew where I lived, and threatened me by stating that I should be terrorized by the thought he could attack me at any time.
TomD’s Take: Seb’s gone hysterical….Produce the quote where I stated the above, liar.

Yawn, back to football.

Please stop bringing up Colin. It’s just red meat for the morons. Thanks…
A bit hard for the chief troll to do.
Like the scorpion and the frog.
Well, having just finished reading the full SI article on Richardson prior to seeing this post, I will say that Diddy & whomever will bring a VERY DIFFERENT ATMOSPHERE to the executive offices!!!
Power is seductive and addictive Absolute power is absolutely corrupting.
(All credit to whoever said that originally)
Personally I have no preference for who buys the Panthers, which is convenient, since I have the same amount of influence over it. Diddy? Fine. CK? Fine. Elton John? Sure.

TrollD, went full on Freddy Kreuger, mentioned he knew where I lived, and threatened me by stating that I should be terrorized by the thought he could attack me at any time. I did not tell my wife about that, since she just went in for a mammogram, and is worried about a lump, so she does not need more stress. I still will refrain from posting any more, but just could not resist this one last time. Glad to see them weeding out the trolls, and hope they ban TrollD forever. At least, if anything happens, we have in writing a Prime suspect.
.
Agree. I have no preference either. There are many billionaires out there who could step up… Zuckerberg, Putin and his cronies, an entertainment consortium of Lady Gaga, Denzel Washington, and Tom Hanks. The list goes on.
I thought George Washington was quite magnanimous when it came to abdicating his power….
Sure. He made himself a fortune in real estate after running the riff-raff out of western Pennsylvania during the Whiskey Rebellion (against disproportionate taxation on small distillers) and acquiring their ‘abandoned’ land.
An early version of The Golden Parachute. Entitled white guy.
Look, I’m an old white guy. Me & The Duchess earned our money, and didn’t make anybody poor-er doing it. In fact I saved all my customers and employers money, and The Duchess did as well.
Ya’all should drill down on that 2nd Grade civics lesson.
‘I cannot tell a lie’ STFU on that tired mantra.
I never said he was perfect, and I don’t believe there’s a white guy or a black guy that is. However, he did some great things, and could have been king of America if he was consumed with power. He stepped away, and that is to be commended….
Idiot.
Not necessary blowhard.
49er Fans,
I’ve posted the quote attributed to me by an hysterical Seb.
Not once have I posted as Freddy Krueger and know not how Seb, even in his wildest hallucinations from the sanitarium, conjured up this blatant slander.
But whomever the poster, I, (and speaking for many others) enjoyed the respite from his voluminous postings.
All can clearly see, I responded as my usual, TomD, in the Chucky comment, mentioning nothing about Seb’s whereabouts.
Essentially, Seb took a vacation from this site for no reason whatsoever.

Sebbie could sell his Toyota Tercel and get in on Panthers ownership.
Hilarious!
Good do it and move them back into our division. We’d be guaranteed to never go winless.

http://www.49erswebzone.com/articles/112731-transcript-shanahan-discusses-victory-titans-ahead-toward-jaguars/
“We’ve got a number of plays that we use in two-minute with different words and things like that, so it was nice to anticipate that coming, not with a quick turnover or something like that so [quarterbacks coach] Rich [Scangarello] can sit there on the sidelines with him and go over everything. Jimmy is a pretty visual guy, so when we do that it’s nice to have about five to 10 minutes where Rich can draw all the plays up so he can see them and just think about them, and we don’t get to use them all. I think we ended up using three of them, but it’s nice to preview that before we go out.”
Shanny focuses on his head coaching duties while his QB coach draws up plays and works with the QB. Could it be that Shanahan doesn’t need an OC?
Do you actually do anything but copy/paste all day? Have a take bro. I know how to point my browser to the Mercury when I need it.
“Shanny focuses on his head coaching duties while his QB coach draws up plays and works with the QB. Could it be that Shanahan doesn’t need an OC?”
That was my take. The paste further disproved the myth that Shanny is neglecting his head coaching responsibilities because he doesn’t have an offensive coordinator.
That was always a seriously flawed argument because the people wanting him to hire an OC didn’t take into account he already had numerous OC’s without the title.
As for the complaints about Shanahan as a HC, it’s always tied to winning and losing. If you win they love you, if you lose they want to tie a rock to your leg and drop you in the bay. Grant and a few others have been all over Shanny for the penalties the team has taken this season treating it as an indication the team is undisciplined and he doesn’t have them prepared, and yet no mention of that in a game where they took 7. It’s all about the wins and if you don’t win, then every detail is dissected and obsessed over until you win again.
Totally agree, people should have a take. Screw the facts that back them up, opinions and feelings are that matter. smh
80, keep it up. You’re one of the more reasonable posters on here even though we have disagreed multiple times (Not on this topic) I like arguments with some backing.
Thanks Shoup. You keep up the good work too.
Atlanta’s Freeman is the bomb!
I liked that Ronnie Lott like hit he took though.
Hopefully for Kaep he can run a team better than he could run an offense. I get the feeling that if he were involved in tense negotiations, he’d drop his eyes and run at the first hint of pressure.
Kinda doubt Kaep has much business acumen. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s broke in 5 years.
I couldn’t be happier this fool is off my Niners. Thank you Football Gods :)
I say more power to them and I wish them luck. With a large enough investment group, they may be able to leverage funding sufficient to purchase the team. If they are able to do so, it will be interesting to see what the NFL does.
Given the racial demographic of the players it would be evolutionary fun to see a mostly black ownership group. Guess who’s coming to League meetings!?!
Get Oprah on board and there’s some substantial financial resources at play.
As to the other owners, if the applicant group can show sufficient greed in their proposed business model…..shrug……they’re in.
“As to the other owners, if the applicant group can show sufficient greed in their proposed business model…..shrug……they’re in.”
Funny — and likely true.
I had not realized that Jerry Richardson, while having controlling share of the franchise, only owns 48% of the Panthers. If the franchise is worth $2.3 Billion as estimated, then his share would be around $1.1 Billion. The investor group might not need to be as large as I initially thought, since the investors would likely need to contribute only about 1/3 to 1/2 that (about $370 to $550 Million) and leverage the rest.
It will be interesting to see if this very exclusive club changes. Doubt it will happen though.
The off-season is going to be hilarious with the Kaepernick stories. There will be non-stop black panther inspired workout photo shoots to show the world ‘he out here’ and that the ‘grind is real’. They will feature lots of hip hop artists, bulging muscles and baby oil but little in the way of film study or working on mechanics. Of course, being in physical shape was never the issue with Kaepernick….but whatever.
Kap’s all drama and a crapy qb
Diddy, Curry, Keopernick, geezz.. I’ll bet they know all about how the NFL should be run! ?????
One word, Oprah. She could buy the team herself, but if her, Diddy and MJ create a group they could buy the Panthers straight Cash homie
