Matt Maiocco asked Vernon Davis after practice if there will be a quarterback competition in training camp this year.
Here’s what Davis had to say.
DAVIS: I can’t really jump into that because that’s not my deal. I leave that up to the coaches. I’ll let them decide that. I’m sure they strongly believe in Alex along with the rest of the teammates and myself, and we expect Alex to be the starter.
Q: Are you starting to be more of a believer in No. 7 as well?
DAVIS: He’s a good player. He has a lot of potential, a very bright future. I think the odds are set on Alex at the moment. I don’t think there’s really too much competition at the moment. Alex isn’t back with us right now because of the CBA but he’ll be back, possibly tomorrow.
