  1. Saints are going to find out the hard way that they’re not even at the same level as the Niners. I believe our defense is going to harass Brees all game-final score: 30-10…Niners all the way baby!!!

    1. I totally agree I always thought Harris was better than Tart he flashed in rookie season, he just needed some more experience. He’s a big play safety and Tart is just a guy!

  2. In a dome. What fun it will be. Sooner the 9ers can quiet the crowd, the better.

  3. I hope the Niners can do some innovative, unexpected plays like a flea flicker with Emmanuel Sanders

  4. Thomas and Kamara will be a handful to our Pass D. Overall I think Peyton has the edge over Shanahan. Saints win a close one 28-24.

    1. The defense will clamp down on Brees. The team is pissed from last weeks loss and rested well from staying in Florida an hours flight away. Dee Ford is back and they play in a dome on the fast turf. JG bounces back and Mostert and the WR’s will be flying everywhere. KS has learned a few things from last week. 27-20, SF.

  5. Like Maiocco used to say here it’s a GPS game. If the Niners are who we think they are they’ll take care of business… 27-16 Niners.

  6. Niners 37 Saints 20
    Justification:
    1. Both Saints LBs have bee ruled out including Kiko Alonso. Breida, Mostert and Kittle will feast.
    2. Their starting G is out.
    3. Their All Pro T is Questionable recovering from a high ankle sprain.
    4. Their D has given up 28, 27,27, 25,31 points to HOU,LAR,SEA,CHI,CAR respectively. Niners offense is better than the aforementioned.

    Niners Baby.

  7. Some may think the injuries to the Saints O line may make the difference. I think that it may be the LB situation that will be their biggest weakness.
    .
However, the Niners should not count on injuries to declare the Niners are going to dominate. The Saints have done well even when they lost their starting QB. The Saints are not only talented, they have depth.
    .
I am not too worried about the Niner WRs being side lined. Addition through subtraction when it comes to Pettis and Goodwin. That would mean that they have room for more RBs. Mostert, Breida, Wilson and even Coleman can catch the ball.
    .
One thing that no one has mentioned is motivation. I think the Niners want this game more. The Saints already are in the playoffs, while the Niners need to win to stay competitive with the Seahawks.
    .
Some posters may take heart- Grant is predicting the Saints win by 3, so they will think Grant will be wrong ….AGAIN. ;p
    .

      1. No, have you noticed that many catfish screeds are being deleted? Glad he is wasting his time.

        1. A real man wouldn’t hide behind Grant’s skirts every time someone makes fun of him….

          1. Great, you think bullying is not a character flaw.
            .
I do. Making fun of another person with insults and expletives, says a lot more about that person, than his target. Real men act like real men, not immature potty mouths.

            1. Your bullying is definitely a character flaw.
Your need to call people names is definitely a character flaw. (unless you’re the POTUS)
Your incessant need for attention is definitely a character flaw. (count your posts)
You calling yourself a victim is definitely a character flaw.
Your inability to control yourself is definitely a character flaw.
Your need to monitor this site and call Grant when your alter ego posts is definitely a character flaw.
Your need to have the last word is definitely a character flaw.

              1. Do I bully defending myself?
                .
Actually, I use adjectives instead of names.Like bullying, immature…..
                .
I am just chronicling this season.
                .
                I said I was a target, not a victim.
                .
I am civil and respectful, to like minded Niner fans. The usual 8 just like to troll me.
                .
My catfish is my cross to bear. Glad he is being deleted, because he doubles my posts and is so obnoxious, he is ruining this site.
                .
I am just a die hard faithful Niner fan, who is rooting hard for them to win. This is a 49er site.
                .
I want them to win their 6th ring.Maybe you do not, since you seem to be diametrically opposed to everything I say.
                .
I also like to get the last word.

    1. There’s a guy following me in a white 1974 Datsun, California plates. Tell the police I’ll be headed south on Perdugo and for them to intercept.

  8. Grant Cohn
    @grantcohn
The 49ers have arguably the NFL’s best roster, and 25 percent of their players were undrafted.

    Bravo, John Lynch.

My oh my how quickly the tweeter’s admonition has changed to a pat on the back.

    1. The impressive part isn’t how many UDFAs they have – lots of teams have UDFAs on the roster. The impressive thing is how many have been big contributors this year. And there is a common theme with these successful UDFAs. A lot of them are great athletes, but were very raw coming out of college. That speaks highly for the coaching. It also speaks highly of the mentality of the UDFAs they are drafting – which aside from athleticism is also likely a key thing the team is looking for from these UDFAs.

      1. Excellent points, Big Scootie. All I would add is that, while big time players make big time plays in big time games; it’s the UDFA’s that come in with big time chips on big time shoulders that give big time effort on every snap….

  9. Moving from 21-10 Niners to 20-10 Niners. Just feel they’ll have to settle for some field goals. I think this game goes a lot like the Rams game i.e defensive dominance. Jimmy will have to make a couple of drives to win it.

Some may think I pontificate. In as much as those without my superior education and family bloodlines extending through the University of California system; belief modules demonstrate their inaccurate modes of thought.

Paradigms exist at the highest levels of education, and they certainly do not flatter my detractors.

Suffice it to say, when I design a play wherein the tight end feigns injury, falling down, mid pass pattern; gets back up and races 50 yards down field to catch the game-winner; I mean what I say.

Let them laugh, mock and jeer. I hold the diploma, not they.

    1. TrollD, fooled once again by my catfish. Mental lightweights are easily fooled.
      .
Concerning that deceptive play where the receiver falls down, loses coverage, then gets up and makes a catch for a long gain. George Kittle did that exact play. I called it, unlike you, who belittled even the concept of being deceptive.

Many doubt my prognosticating prowess. Through the seasons, my predictions have been so accurate, that 49er management read my posts to enhance their winning percentage.

Unlike others, I prefer not to boast about my obvious skills, however, I will point out that this is not my first rodeo, so those who discredit will find they wished they hadn’t.

    1. Hmm, another catfish account. The Niners at that time, had come off a 2 win season. The 2016 Baalke certainly studiously ignored me. They were just dreaming of winning, and it was the start of the JL/KS era, which started with 9 straight losses. What winning percentage?
      .
However, yes. Just look what I said recently. I wrote that the Niners should use Marcell Harris at safety, because he was good against the run. What did he do? He ripped the ball out of Jackson’s hands, stopping a drive. He gave the Niners a better chance to win, but unfortunately, they still lost.
      .
I have consistently advised any team, the Niners, and specifically KS, to consider time outs to be precious, and saved for legitimate challenges, and the last 2 minutes of each half. What did he do against the Ravens? He wasted 2 time outs, so he could not stop the clock, and lost. So not taking my advice has led to losing. I have consistently said that the Niners should be competent and efficient enough to get a play off in time, so they would not have to waste a time out to prevent a delay of game penalty. They still incurred a delay of game penalty, so they keep ignoring good advice. Therefor, I do not think the Niner management has read these posts, since this site is the only one where I mainly post.

        1. Yes, the catfish posts were repeated by TrollD, but all the recent comments on this Dec 6 post, are so far, all mine.
          .
          Easy to see? Easily fooled.

  12. Grant wants Ira Miller, Glenn Dickey and Lowell Cohn to chronicle this last part of the Niner season.
    .
I would include a Press Democrat legend- Bob Padecky

    1. Grant wants Ira Miller, Glenn Dickey and Lowell Cohn to chronicle this last part of the Niner season.

Cool. Because we all know how they would have chronicled going into the season. The egg on their collective faces would have served a nice pre-game brunch for the entire blog.

      1. While all 4 were writing their columns, the Niners won 5 rings.
        .
Maybe with all 4 chronicling this season, they could win a sixth ring.
        .
Grant should just invite them to write on this site.

        1. You got your causality logic all screwed up there, Sebs.

Me (channeling Seb): I was alive when the Niners won 5 rings. As long as I continue to live, the Niners will win more rings!

          1. Yep, and as long as you have been here, the Niners have not won a ring.
            .
According to you, maybe you need to leave, and go to some other site, so the Niners can win their sixth ring.

  13. Not sure what the outcome will be but I think it will be a close game. I think this one goes either way. 23-20.

  14. Breida may be back and it looks like Dee Ford could play. Also an entire week of acclimating to the east coast time.
Sanders may be getting healthier and the D will get turned loose on Brees.
This could get ugly for the saints by half time.
Sean Payton may need to pull Brees out to keep him safe. The saints have already won their division so no need to risk Brees if it gets out of hand.

  15. The Saints and Payton , may be very deceptive with trick plays. Taysom Hill may be the one to pull it off, so the Niners need to play disciplined, focused and in control, and expect trickeration. Since this is a copycat league, I hope the Niners do some tricks of their own.
    .
To those who predict that the Niners will crush the Saints, I sure hope you are right, but I see a dogfight, with sledgehammer blows delivered from both sides.
    .
I was surprised to see the ‘Bravo, JL post’, but he deserves praise. Maybe Grant is angling for another interview. ;p However, it may be also due to their scouts, who found those diamonds in the rough.
    .
To put it in context, the Niners under went a full tear down, and total makeover. 40 players were eliminated from the 2016 roster. Only Staley and Celek are left from that SB team. The Draft only has 7 rounds. Free agents were still leery about coming to the Niners, so they could not attract elite talent. Therefor, undrafted free agents filled the gaps in the roster. Fortunately, several were smashing successes. JL deserves credit for signing the players, but the scouts did the initial hard work.
    .
It also took the coaches putting them in their best positions to succeed, and creating a cohesive team with everybody pulling in the same direction. KS, Saleh and the coaches gave the team the right systems, and the winning came because the players did their job. JL deserves credit for changing the culture, but he did not do it alone. It was a collaborative effort, which is paying off.

    1. Seb… you keep sleeping on this defense.
Don’t turn around and jinx them.
They did it to Rodgers, they will do it to Brees
