Here’s what Ross Tucker and Matt Williamson said about the penalties in the Super Bowl and Jim Harbaugh’s sideline behavior on Monday’s ESPN Football Today podcast.
Q: What do you think of the way Crabtree handled questions about the controversial no-call on the last 49ers’ last play? (He said, “If somebody’s grabbing you, you always expect a call, but you can’t whine to the refs. It is what it is. Got to just take it like a man and take that L.)
TUCKER: “I like the way Crabtree handled it. I don’t care at all stylistically for how Jim Harbaugh handles himself on the sideline. I think he sends a horrible message to coaches at the lower levels. I mean, he throws down his clip board and his headset on every call, so how do you know when he’s really, really upset with a call? Any call that goes against him, he has a hissy fit and this one was no different.
“Here’s the reality, though. I don’t think the Niners have much of a leg to stand on. If I just isolate that play, No.1 Crabtree initiated the contact, No.2 in that situation I don’t have a problem with them letting them play. They let them play all game long. By the letter of the law it probably should have been a holding penalty, but that being said, I seem to remember another team that benefitted greatly on a fourth down late in a game from a lot of contact where they just let it play. Oh yeah, that was the Niners in the NFC Championship game when NaVorro Bowman was all over bodying up Roddy White on fourth down.
“And not only that. If we’re going to talk about officiating in this game, Isaac Sopoaga master blasted Joe Flacco a full yard out of bounds. That was the most blatant missed call of the game. That would have given them first down at the one yard line. Late hit on Sopoaga as Flacco was clearly out of bounds.
“And not only that, Chykie Brown never even touched Akers on the roughing the kicker. He fell down below him, and then Akers landed on top of him and acted.
“So when it comes to the officiating, the Niners need to just relax because they were the beneficiaries of officiating in a lot of different instances.”
WILLIAMSON: “I agree with everything you just said. Overall I don’t think it was a very cleanly officiated game. There was fighting and stuff they could have nipped in the bud earlier.
“And I’m with you on Harbaugh. I honestly think Harbaugh is knocking on Bill Belichick’s door to be the No.1 head coach in the entire league right now, but he is a buffoon on the sideline. It’s an embarrassment. He throws his play sheet all the time, not just when it matters most. Cry wolf all you want, but he looks like a goof on the sideline. What are you doing, man?
“I know Harbaugh is exuberant, played in the league, is a player’s coach, but as a player would you rather have a Tom Landry on the sideline?”
TUCKER: “I would rather not have Jim Harbaugh and the way he acts.”
Q: Jim’s brother, John, called Jim the best coach in the NFL. What do you think of that?
TUCKER: “I think John Harbaugh handles things with a lot more class than his brother, and if roles were reversed, I don’t think that’s how Jim Harbaugh would handle it, but whatever.”

Guh, I wipe stuff off the bottom of my shoe that has more relevance then those two guys.
Go check out the nfl.com page and look, if you can stomach it, at the shot of Smith and Culliver. It’s couldn’t be more clear that Culliver has absolutely no idea where the ball is.
Better do two things, replace that clown or find a way to get to the QB faster…ok three things, or do both.
oops, Jones not Smith.
I saw that, it was a tremendous picture.
The really sad thing is it looks like he’s catching a punt. I guess it could be worse, you could be a Texans fan wondering why you let him get away.
” It’s couldn’t be more ”
If there really were grammar police I would have been executed years ago for butchering the English language. Grant is there ever any hope for an edit button, seriously?
Grant: Why do you print this crap.Real niner fans do not like people badmouthing our coach that has taken us further than any coach since Mooch. You and your dad love printing this crap. We know that ESPN only like east coast teams,so we do not like crap talk about our team. You and dad and Ratto are all alike. You hate Harbaugh and pick up on anybody that talks crap about him.
Honestly I could care less what they both have to say. I rather have JH be himself than try to be somebody he’s not. He’s a competitor plain and simple and wants to get that WIN and has a good eye for talent.
I agree completely, I’m sure the players respect the fact that he is genuine and doesn’t put on a show for anyone else. And why should he?
The antics are a litte much but in the 2 years he’s been head coach of the Niners he’s gotten some good results. Kinda the name of the game.
I was very emotional as a coach myself so Harbaugh’s actions don’t bother me. That being said, I can see how others not rooting for the 49ers could take issue with it.
As for Ross Tucker, I can’t even listen to NFL Radio during his show.
Jack Hammer says: “As for Ross Tucker, I can’t even listen to NFL Radio during his show.”
I feel the same way, I’m really glad that his program is over before I start my commute in the morning. He’s the prototypical ex player that thinks all players during his time were white knights and ambassadors to the game and that the game was also ‘different’ when he played. Total schmuck.
Tucker’s comments are Horse Sh**. Every one of his statements about the penalties are incorrect.
Crabtree was beyond 5 Yards, Roddy White was not.
Flacco hadn’t even stepped out of bounds yet when he got hit.
This guy sucks.
Jim Harbaugh set up the conditions so that a team chalk full of top round talent was unable to pull it together against an aging team on its way out of relevance. John Harbaugh set up the conditions so that his aging team could rally around the veterans and inspire a winning streak that earned them a Super Bowl. Jim’s ego is too big for an NFL locker room, maybe not college. John’s ego was just right to allow his team to come together as grown men and play their best. The 49ers played extremely far below their ability… that’s all on Jim. It’s his job to have his guys ready. Jim needs to learn from big brother.
We should also remember that John Harbaugh received an “ego-check” from his own team back in late November: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000102107/article/john-harbaugh-reportedly-nearly-had-ravens-mutiny
I meant late October.
Sounds like a great way to win a Super Bowl…
Go play outside Josh. The grownups are talking…
I was at a Super Bowl party last night and I must say that Jim Harbaugh became the butt of many jokes. Sure, some might not watch football but it still leaves a lasting impression on people and how they view the organization. JH reminds me of a soccer mom who believes her child can do no wrong. He overreacts to anything that doesn’t go the teams way, even if it’s a correct call. I also find it interesting that all week John praised Jim and even AFTER John won the game he stood up for Jim. Not once all week did I hear Jim say anything about John or even congratulate him during his press conference. I think Jim is a talented coach, I just think there is a professional learning curve between college and NFL that some new NFL coaches need to learn.
Yep. People might accuse me of being an Alex lover, but more than anything, I’m a poor-people-handling hater. Jim made the locker room feel as if loyalty, respect and honor were irrelevant, and that it was all about getting faster, stronger and more efficient on the field. If the 49ers had someone to play for, a person, a reason bigger than football and winning the Super Bowl, they would have won. The Super Bowl is about playing inspired football. If I were Jed York, I would lean on Jim… if the players want Jim around… they can play for him. If not, axe him. Eddie D was ridiculously harsh on Bill Walsh and the results speak for themselves.
Obviously I’m an Alex fan too. On those final 4 plays at the goal-line Kaep missed huge opportunities because he went right to his first option on the pass (all Crabtree) meanwhile, he missed a Moss man-man and Davis man-man on two plays. Kaep also missed and didn’t call out the blitz on 4th and goal. I think speed, strength, confidence only get you so far. Experience is something you aren’t born with. Out of the last 6 SB winners the “youngest” is Flacco and Rodgers with 5 years of NFL experience.
I like Alex Smith as a person. I think Kaepernick is a better QB overall. Alex Smith is up there. But I have a feeling, the way the 49ers were built, they would have done fine with Alex and won the Super Bowl this year. They were a magical team, with vets experiencing so much hardship together. Jim Harbaugh destroyed that “intangible”, but obvious, magic when he went with the new guy when Alex Smith did nothing to lose his job but get injured. Talk about a horrible message to send about the meaning of a teammate and a “Team”. It’s not about the guy next to you… it’s all about Jim getting those wins.
“Talk about a horrible message to send about the meaning of a teammate and a “Team”. It’s not about the guy next to you… it’s all about Jim getting those wins.”
Josh you aren’t making sense. First of all, when JH wins, the 49ers win. So thats dumb.
Secondly, What JH did is the perfect example of putting the entire team in front of 1 or 2 guys. It isn’t about 1 player, or the 1 player next to him, its about what is best for the overall team. The only message JH sent by starting CK is: at every position, if your backup is better than you, he will play because that gives us a better chance to win. Period.
Therefore, as you put it “I think Kaepernick is a better QB overall”
Who are you people. I have been a die hard niner fan for years and up until last year Smith was called a bust by every critic out there. Smith lovers need to go back to watching the giants as they have no clue.
Josh is BS, I mean DS. he thinks Alex Smith could’ve guided this team to the Super Bowl.
Hell, we may not have even made the playoffs if Smith had not gotten a concussion. Especially with the way this defense started to lay down late in the season. Josh, you keep saying you like Kap. You should. It’s just hard to tell considering you find a way to be critical of him and the team in every post. Hell, you aren’t even a 49er fan. We’ll find out what you are when Smith gets traded.
23 what did you think of the last possession and play calls? Was that on Roman or Kaps decision making?
Beefcake
Do you recall the formation and playcalling that started the Niners’ success against the Falcons? That’s what Roman/Harbaugh should have dictated as soon as they had 1st and Goal. The right call was to take the timeout, give Gore the opportunity to rest after his 30-yard gain, line up with Staley, Iupati, Goodwin, Boone, Davis, Kaepernick, Gore, Miller, Vernon, Leonard Davis, & Daniel Kilgore … and jam it into the endzone. Ngata was out and the defense was gassed. That’s hindsight 20/20.
All you haters are upset because I predicted the Ravens would come out and dominate our favorite team, which they did before the strange power outage.
The message Jim Harbaugh sent was if you get injured, there is no loyalty, and he will go with whoever he feels might be better. Kaepernick looked pretty bad against the Rams and Seahawks. Our defense looked great against the teams we beat when Kaep started, but for the Ravens. So it’s not as if Kaepernick was totally lights out. But everything I said stands.
I think there was one run to LMJ that last possession. However Kap could have audibled out of some of those pass calls. Again hindsight but the last throw to Crabtree was horrible. When has MC ever out leaped someone high in the air for a ball. It should have been a bullet like the one against AZ at the goal line. Again hindsight but still that play never works unless your WR is 6’4
Beefcake
Point is, the game was hanging in the balance and the coaches should have regrouped, slowed it down, & gone heavy. Blame Kaep if you want, but my position was the right call for every rational reason.
The 49er would have been out first round of the playoffs if alex played. That guy can’t score in the high 20′s and 30′s every game. Our defense was terrible in the post season we would have no chance with alex smith, david akers carried him last season.
What was the final score of the playoff game vs the Saints last season?
Mr Everything -couldn’t agree more-Ravens were dinged ,Ray lewis slowed with age shoulda banged FG in!
Sean in Canada
What team are you going to be rooting for next year? Time for you to get moving on from here, Fluffer.
Jeez….the 49er’s were just in the Super Bowl, didn’t play particularly well and got beat, and Alex Smith is still in the conversation on the blog….as much respect as I have for Alex, it’s pretty much a foregone conclusion that he’s not gonna be here for OTA’s…with that said, all of us should get away from Alex once and for all, and focus future comments on what the team needs to add and improve on so what happened yesterday, doesn’t happen next season, should they get there…..one last thing….great teams (which I don’t believe the Ravens are) don’t allow themselves to fall into a 28-6 hole at the start of the 3rd qtr….that happens to teams that are just good enough to ge there…
They are absolutely correct, Harbaugh is a classless act and poor sport. If he were in the NBA or MLB he would be ejected on a weekly basis. Maybe they need to do that in the NFL. Just a few times to slap some civility into coaches like Harbaugh. It would probably be for his own good. I hate to think that we may see him have a heart attack on the sidelines the way he is going.
Obviously the 49ers didn’t get the memo that the rules would be suspended for the Superbowl.
Jim’s treatment of people speaks louder than “The Team, The Team, The Team” could ever speak.
Both Grant and Lowell are developing serious antagonism toward the 49ers organization. I feel like its time for both of them to get out of town.
Meanwhile during the light problem the camera shows John Harbaugh using the f word repeatedly when talking to some guy trying to give the team an update on the situation.
Look both guys are fiery, and sometimes in the heat of battle emotions get the best of you. It has no bearing on the way the game is called or how the players play. It’s unfortunate sometimes the camera paints a different picture.
You didn’t have to be much of a lip reader to see John Harbaugh telling the stadium official “Why don’t you go f yourself?”
But hey. None of that stuff matters. The scoreboard matters. The little people will try to pull down the big ones from the safety of the internet, but who carezzzzz.
+1
Well said Prime! also dont forget when the call is going to change the outcome of the game!
Well said Prime!
If I was that stadium guy, I’d have just walked away. He put up with a lot of B.S. from John, like he personally pulled the plug on the lights or something. It was borderline laughable how bad John was losing it.
Waah waah waah. Just like belichick, if he’s your coach you love him, if he coaches your opponents you hate him (minus of course the Alex only fans). Personally, I’m grateful that harbaugh took a pathetic team and got them instantly to the nfccg and the Super Bowl. I stand by him.
This entire conversation rests squarely in the “kick him when he’s down” category. Bunch of squirrely idiots out there, probably still mad because JH sat Alex. Oh well, that’s what the internet is for I guess. It’s like a cheap, digital People Magazine for the lame brains.
And you’re here because…?
Geez Grant, can’t you think of any football to discuss other than issuing grades and quoting these two idiots above?
I have no problem with Harbaugh’s sideline protests and his emoting. He does what he feels he needs to do. Who cares what these clowns on TV and radio think?
I don’t pretend to understand offensive play calling but the last series yesterday reminded me of the last series in the 112th Big Game. Cal was up by 6, Stanford had 2:39 and no time outs. Stanford returned the short kick off to its own 42. Freshman Andrew Luck ran for a first down and then passed for another. Facing some pressure from the Cal defensive line, Luck threw a short pass to Toby Gerhart down the sideline, who bulldozed his way to the Cal 13 yard line.
There is still time on the clock to run a couple of run plays. We have an experienced running back, Toby Gerhart, at the peak of his college career who is having a terrific game (4 touchdowns, 136 yards on 20 carries) in a monster season where he lost out the Heisman by a few votes. The O line is blocking effectively.
So what does Harbaugh and Roman do?
They keep the ball away from Gerhart and have the inexperienced Luck throw. After two incompletions, Luck threw a pass across the middle intended for tight end Coby Fleener, but Cal linebacker Mike Mohamed intercepted the ball before it got to the end zone, ending Stanford’s chances at winning the Big Game.

That looks like a zing to me
Grant
Your links are nice and all, but how about a nice, well-developed editorial from you? 80 hours and counting, Bruin. Let’s see if you’ve been able to develop more than AJJ in your brief time in the spotlight. Daddy sure knows how to write. What have you got?
You’ve been condescending to me all day. I had two pieces in the PD’s special section last week. Go check them out.
They were awesome! You need to keep it up. Bring it!
Grant, your incendiary headlines re Harbaugh are starting to look like a grudge or vendetta. This is not very becoming of a journalist, or even a blogger. If you have a personal beef with the man, why don’t you deal with it on a personal basis, as opposed to having it affect your coverage of the Niners, and the enlightenment of your readers.
Matt Williamson is the same buffoon who came up with a nonsensical fantasy about how to stop the read option out of the Pistol. Any kindergartner with doing finger painting could come up with a more plausible strategy. I listened to all 48 minutes of that podcast, and as far as I can tell he’s just another talking head with essentially no experience in the field. (On ESPN’s site, he *claims* to have *scouted* for the Browns and to have worked at the University of Akron. We’re not talking George Young here.) His work, such as it is, speaks volumes…blank ones.
I agree with the general notion that we should be looking to 2013 and not spending too much time crying about the officiating, or for that matter the play calling. But everyone, including myself, is a monday morning coach and quarterback, so this process has to go on. But these guys have not distinguished themselves with their analysis, as opposed to guys like Steve Young, Dilfer, Gruden, etc, and I have to submit Grant that you’re not distinguishing yourself with the slant of your coverage. Respectfully yours.
I don’t think Coach Harbaugh is held in high esteem by the Cohn household.
I have no grudge or vendetta. His sideline behavior is a national topic of discussion.
Perhaps, but to fesnyc’s point, how many of those discussions call him a buffoon in the headline?
I agree. In fact I think he’s too intense for the team. It brought them focus and the players love him, but they always come out tight because he’s too tight.
I Jim Harbaugh period, and he’s the best coach for our team and if u dont like the way he acts on the sidelines then dont watch, its that simple!
I love Jim Harbaugh…. sorry!!
Where do you rank yesterday’s loss in terms of agonizing 49er defeats over the last 30 years?
#1 by a gazillion light years. 5-1 is unacceptable. 3-2 is why Brady will never be Montana, and 0-1 is not a good place for Kaep to start from if he is still seeking the trophy.
How can you say all this but be so defensive when people explain, in clear rational terms, why the “unacceptable” happened?
Josh
Sorry, you’re not making sense. Please restate your point.
Well, the door is officially closed on the 2012 season. Time to move on to free-agency, the draft/combine and then mini-camps. I just hope the 49ers address some issues like DL depth and the defensive backfield; a QB to compete with Tolzein for the backup spot and maybe draft/FA another receiver or two since MM and RM may not be back. Losses like this are always tough for fans, but the best way to get over it is to start moving forward and not look back.
We have alot of picks……would like this team to take advantage of them someway to improve this team for another run.
I can’t believe all the Jim Harbaugh hating on here.
Seriously, does anyone remember how terrible the 49ers were prior to his arrival?
Seems straightforward to me.
+1
Grant, I would like to apologies before hand for my comment however I am still very shocked and emotional after last night! With that said, Is this guy Matt Williamson a total tool! Matt can kiss all the 49er fans and Jim H behind! He stated, “By the letter of the law it probably should have been a holding penalty, but that being said, I seem to remember another team that benefitted greatly on a fourth down late in a game from a lot of contact where they just let it play.” Are you serious Matt!!! This was the super bowl on the fourth down and just a few plays ago Crabtree was hit on the head where his helmet came off and there was no call!!! You are disrespecting the head coach for caring about his players and not liking the officating that potentially cost the team the game!
Matt you are not even worthy of being compared to a buffoon! Its shocking for someone to make a statement and admitting to the holding call base on the rules but not having any issue for a no call! Niners have been the victim of bad calls the entire post season and he wonders why JIM H is upset about a call that end our season without a trophy!!! TOOL
Well if anyone would know a buffoon it’s Williamson…
Anyone know the strength of this draft? We need DL, CB, SS, WR maybe TE What is this draft deep in?
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/page/hotread-2013-nfl-draft/nfl-hot-read-10-things-know-2013-draft
Very good draft for the trenches-couple a’ good TE’s; some good WR’s;not so good if you are in need of a starting QB(which may help us get trade value with AS)-secondary help can be found there too!
Starting to seem like this Grant guy is trying to build a name by focusing on the headlines which will get him the most reads and comments. Hes often focusing on the negatives aspects of every subject, which generated interest from Niner fans.
Favorite line from a SB commerical
“he looks like an ugly Deion Sanders”
The one play that I’m surprised to not have seen more since Kaep took over is the one that Alex scored on in the NFCD game last year against the Saint, or any version of a naked bootleg. The Smith TD wasn’t a naked boot but still that used to be a staple play for Aikman and Elway when they would get down inside the 10 yard line. With Kaep’s speed some play action misdirection followed by a naked boot would have been 1000 times better then a fade pass.
+1,000
You’re probably right, a boot would have been 2000 times better then a fade. ;)
You know, I always thought that Tom Coughlin was kind of a buffoon on the sidelines, always moaning and whining and bitching throughout a whole game, like he’s sucking on lemons constantly. The guy is ALWAYS pissed. I really thought less of him as a coach for his constant sour demeanor on the sidelines. Oh yeah, he took an expansion team to the AFC championship game in its second year in the league and then beat Belichik twice in the Super Bowl. Guess he’s a pretty good coach. Jim Harbaugh is off to quite a start in his career too.
I agree Harbaugh does act like a buffon, or crybaby on the sideline sometimes….it’s what you would expect maybe from your son’s little league coach. Harbaugh’s dilema though is that this same passion and competitiveness that drives him and causes him to act immature sometimes is also what makes him such a great coach. Harbaugh has no pretentions about who he is…He’s as genuine as can be and wears all his emotions on his sleeve and his players love him for it. I equate his competitiveness and will to win along with only the greatest competitor of all time….Michael Jordan. Without this “fire”, well the 49ers have just another semi-competitive coach that mostly worries about what he has to do to keep his job. In other words….play it safe and a be average. If Harbaugh can’t be who he is then he’s diminished. He still might be a good coach, but not a great one. If his risky decision to start Kaepernick over Smith would of blown up in his face and CK would of played – well, like most rookies play when thrown to the NFL wolves….Harbaugh’s neck would of been in a noose, but he believed in his instincs and despite the risks involved and the consensus of the so called expects…he had the courage to make an unpopular but “the right” and gutsy decision. No other Coach would of had the courage to do what he did and that what sets him apart from the coaching “also-rans”. He put his reputation and judgement on the line because he wanted more than anything for his team to the win the Superbowl and despite the unpopularity of it all – Harbaugh pulled the trigger….why? Because Harbaugh is special, unconventional and unselfish. Harbaugh is about “the team” and wants to win at all costs. isn’t that what as a fan you want from your coach?
Thank god for the non-conformist, the individual that has the courage to do what he thinks is right despite the risk and potential ridicule the traps and pitfalls that others want you fall in or “fail because of.
The only thing I was disappointed with after the loss to the Ravens was Harbaugh’s placing the blame on the refs….and not giving as much credit to the Ravens and his brothers skilled coaching as he could have. Blaming the loss on the refs or a bad-call that didn’t go your way for the reason in defeat….is not only poor sportsmanship it also diminishes the Ravens hard fought victory – Most off all it’s becomes a convenient vehicle used to relieve yourself of the blame and responsibility that comes with the loss. In other words.. “we didn’t lose it the officials did”…where’s the accountabilty if that’s the statement. It’s like blaming the dog who ate your homework as the reason you failed the big test. Blaming the ref’s makes it look like the Ravens were the inferior team. less deserving, cheaters…. and really didn’t deserve the victory because it came only as as a gift because of an officials poor calls…and all this despite the Ravens giving everything they had with their effort on the field.
The Niners didn’t lose because of the the questionable calls…both teams had calls that could of been called into question. Blaming the refs for the reason you didn’t win is nothing but a cowardly act or effort to legitimize that “your team” was superior and only external factors beyond your control cost the “49ers” a chance at their 6th Superbowl. The Niners didn’t lose the game because of a questionable call….The Niners lost because of poor play calling and execution in the red-zone, especially the last four crucial downs. Colin Kaepernick, a 25 year old in only his tenth start stood up and showed he even at a young age, that he is a man of character and responsibility, who didn’t offer any excuses…… believe it or not maybe Jim could learn a little about humility, from someone years his junior.
Learning to take responsibility, attaching accountability and by not projecting your teams failures on forces that were beyond your control. Jim is Jim and change will come slow and hard, but he could do better by honoring the game that has given him more that he ever could of dreamed of in life.
Quick anecdote. Before this last season I happen to meet a young man who was on the 49ers practice squad in 2011 (it was in Philly, he was about to try out for the Eagles). I asked him about Harbaugh, if he thought he could last many years as a coach, because he seemed so intense and high strung, about to bust a gut so often. And this player told me that with the players, in practice, etc, Harbaugh is actually a VERY friendly, even tempered guy who does not get excited like we see on the sidelines. And that the players really respond to him. Also, by the way, this player expressed admiration for Josh Morgan and I had to break the news to him that Morgan had just signed with the Redskins, now one of his div rivals. Don’t think the young guy made the Eagles though, but I think he was suprised to meet such a 49er fan in Philadelphia (he was staying with his cousin, who lived next door to my sister – I was just visiting for a week from California).
February 2013:
Coach Jim Harbaw is being described as mopey and distraught…
his ex-wife Miah says…. what else is new?
His parents go into a room where he is isolating from his team…
they spend 10+ minutes alone with him…
and then he finally emerges
wearing the same empty look.
Jim, there are other people in this universe who also feel empty
from time to time…
Some of them live in Coronado, California…
Grow up, big fella.
Isn’t Tucker the same guy who almost beat a man to death in a bar fight? If so, he’s the last person who should be commenting on behavior.
Harbaugh is a players coach and I commend him on that… But there are times where a heavy butt kicking is needed with certain players and Chris Culliver needs it big time
Who is Matt Williamson? …. He’s a Jive Turkey Gobbler.
John Harbaugh is a “class act” who seldom, if ever, plays to negative emotional outbursts. It’s a shame I can’t say the same for Jim Harbaugh whose outbursts are overzealous, overdramatic and far too common.
As for John Harbaugh’s “breach” of emotions during the protracted “lights out” fiasco in In Super Bowl XLVII’s New Orleans stadium, I feel his outburst might have been justified during this circumstance. It is unfortunate that his “tyrade” was captured by the media, however considering the circumstance, I think he should be given a “pass” on his atypical emotional outburst.
A credit to John Harbaugh is his own realization of his “bad behavior” (cursing at the stadium representative). — OF NOTE: subsequent to his untoward actions, John did acknowledge his untoward behavior by offering a sincere public appology for his emotional outburst… with emphasis on the word SINCERE! ( I don’t believe there’s an insincere bone in this man’s body.) For the most part, I admire how John Harbaugh handles himself… if only he could keep a tighter reign on the emotions of some of his players!
I dont understand..is jim supposed to stand on the sidelines all quietly with a smile- When his team is gettin BS calls against them?
EVERY NFL teams get BS calls. That’s what the red challenge flag is for.
Not EVERY controversial play deserves a ludacrous display of raw human emotion. There should be some amount of professionalism and restraint.
Sometimes in life you have to stand idly by with a “smile” or smirk… and quietly strategize your “revenge”.
You cant challenge bs penalties or non calls Id lose it too..This is the superbowl..those lil bs noncalls add up..to bigger Bs..resultin in the final score..
OK dude please! I am glad you are very much in control of your emotion however you can not possibly put yourself in his shoes!
Still kinda depressed about Sunday. The only good news I could get now is.
1 Alex smith has been traded.
2 we signed Goldson to a good deal.
3 we picked up a good J Smith backup
4 we go back to a 4-3 defense
5 we get some receivers that are made of Iron.
I can understand why people who aren’t Niner fans or players might not like Jim Harbaugh. I don’t like the guy in Detroit. Doesn’t matter. When you start discussing proper decorum for football coaches you’re not discussing the game.
We can all bitch and moan, but pretty soon we’ll need to look at the Niners’ picks (plus what can be gotten for Alex) and what the Niners will look for in the draft.
Beyond all the talk about pass rushers and defenders, I’d like to hear a discussion about if the Niners need a really tall TE for the short yardage and end zone plays. Plus, it’s about time for the Niners to be planning for a future after Frank Gore. I don’t think either LMJ or Hunter have the girth to be a full-time back.
Remember, today is the first day of the rest of our off-season.
Player that may come cheap and have some benefit are Marcus Trufant as a nickle corner. Plus he brings with him valuable defensive strategy from the Seattle camp. Since he also plays against the ones, he would also bring over good knowledge on how to stop Russel Wilson.
The other is Rashard Mendenhall. I believe we can get both on the cheap. Mendenhall could have three or four years left and has good upside. Trufant would be a one year deal. He only made a million bucks last year.
When I saw the headline, I said to myself “who the fcuk are Ross Tucker and Matt Williamson”? So, I looked them up and found that one was a journeyman NFL player and the other a geek with an opinion. Nobody outside of their families cares what they say – it’s a waste of time to discuss what those clowns have to say.
Thanks Nick. tell them go jump in a lake
Never heard of these clowns
I am so happy that Jim is our coach. He and his staff have taken a lousy team and turned them into one of the best in the NFL. So what if he blows a gasket on the sidelines once in a while. Who carries what ESPN thinks about him.
Thank you coach for coming here and rescueing us from the nightmare we had lived in for the previous years.
