Examining state of 49ers roster

FILE – In this Oct. 28, 2018, file photo, San Francisco 49ers’ DeForest Buckner (99), Ronald Blair III (98) and Solomon Thomas (94) wait for a play against the Arizona Cardinals during the first half of an NFL football game in Glendale, Ariz. Thomas, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2017 draft, has struggled even to get onto the field in pass-rushing situations. He lacks the speed to come off the edge and hasn’t shown the ability to be one of the team’s top inside rushers so he has been mostly relegated to being only a base defender. Before the 49ers decide what they need in the draft and free agency, they must take sober stock of what they have. They didn’t do that last year.

They fell in love with themselves after a five-game winning streak to end the season which gave them the illusion they’re better than they are. Then, they overvalued almost everyone who played during that streak, especially the players on defense.

Now, the defense has given up a grotesque 28 points per game this season, forcing just five turnovers — fewest in the NFL — and the 49ers’ record is 2-10.

How many keepers do the 49ers really have on the current roster? Which players are the true building blocks of a serious team?

Let’s count the fake franchise cornerstones, former cornerstones, potential cornerstones and legitimate cornerstones. And before we get started, yes, there’s hope.

  1. Good stuff Grant. I think it is too early to completely write off guys like Colbert and Spoon, but they definitely should not be considered future cornerstone players until they prove otherwise.

“They still need, to name a few, a left tackle, wide receiver, cornerback, free safety and outside pass rusher.”

So aside from QB, the five most important positions on the team. Excellent! :-P

  2. Group I

    1. You say Solomon Thomas is the worst lineman on the 49ers? Good!

    2. You say Goodwin has reverted to the injury-prone, unreliable receiver he was for four years with the Buffalo Bills? Good!

    3. So Witherspoon has intercepted no passes, given up six touchdown catches, committed nine penalties, thrown one notorious hissy fit in a game and gotten benched twice? Good!

    4. Colbert isn’t the 49ers FS of the future? Good!

    5. Tartt isn’t the 49ers SS of the future? Good!

    6. Ward has a floor in the local hospital named after him? Good!

    7. Armstead never improves? Good!

    8. Tomlinson is replaceable? Good!

    9. Richburg is no Mack? Good!

    10. Garnett doesn’t want to play football? Good!

    11. Taylor lost and hasn’t found his quickness? Good!

    12. Bourne is untrustworthy? Good!

    13. Beathard is no Cousins? Good!

    Group II

    1. Sherman can no longer play corner well? Good!

    2. Joe can no longer can block an inside counter move consistently, and lacks the quickness? Good!

  3. Taking sober stock…. Yup, that’s us.

So Grant, when are you going to interview Denise and ask her the tough questions?

  4. A fair assessment of the 49er players. How is the state of the franchise? Hard to tell unfortunately because so many mistakes have hampered their ability to ascend.

If the aforementioned players continue to rise and the team is able to fill the necessary holes, perhaps something can be made of this team. A lot of ifs.

I will say the one bright spot this season had to be the RB play. Hats off to B Turner and all those who have made RB a strength for this team.

  5. I guess I’m not getting my Xmas wish.

“Saleh is a very, very good coach,” Shanahan said, via Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area. “He always has been. He still is, and he’s not a finished product, either, like we all aren’t. I think Saleh will continue to get better because he works at it. He’s very smart, and I think he’s good right now.”

    1. That’s not a ringing endorsement. Basically said he will improve because he works hard at it. Wonder if he said anything to the effect that he still has much to do to help the 49ers. I bet he didn’t. It’s what coaches don’t say that matte.

  6. By the start of next season this staff will have three off seasons and 32 games, inexperience doesn’t really apply anymore. LS & S should be well versed in their jobs.

  7. Grant,
You did a good job on checking most of the boxes.

I’m imagining how much better players like Buckner, Warner, Kittle, Breida and McGlinchey will be with the addition of a strong draft and FA signings.
Good thing the new regime was given ample time to build.

  8. I wish to disagree, and agree.
    .
Solomon Thomas is under a rookie contract, so he is not going anywhere.
Goodwin is their best WR, so they will retain him. I just hope he can stay healthy.
Yes, Witherspoon should be gone, but they will not get anything for him, so he will stay. The coaches like him.
Colbert is injured, but he will be in their future plans.
Tartt will stay because they got rid of Reid.
Ward will leave for free agency. He will not get an 8.5 mil contract again.
Armstead will also be a free agent, so he may leave. They have a bunch of D linemen.
Tomlinson had a bad game, but I think they will want to keep him for continuity.
Richberg came here as a free agent, so they will keep him.
Garnett is under a rookie contract, and will stay.
Taylor, when healthy is a good slot receiver. JG likes to throw to him.
    Bourne is expendable.
CJB should be traded to the Skins for a fifth.
    .
Garcon and Gould will not be back due to age. Sherman and Staley may have one more year.
    .
McKinnon, Mostert, Wilson, Pettis and Mullens are all keepers. Taylor is raw, but he may stay.
    .
Breida, Warner and McGlinchey are solid pieces of the foundation.
    .
JG, Buckner, Juice and Kittle are team leaders.
    .
Niners should bundle players and trade them to get as high a draft pick as possible. They may bundle players and swap them with another struggling team, for a win/win situation.
    .
The Niners should spend all of their salary cap if they want to win.
    .
The best draft strategy would be to move back and accumulate as many draft picks as possible. They should trade back a couple times in the first and select around 14 to 16. They may even trade back from their second round pick, to get an additional third round pick. They should trade back with a QB needy team. They should also try to get a 2020 second and third round pick. That will give them more draft flexibility.
    .
If they want to have a successful draft, they should banish Paraag from the draft room. Just let him deal with the contracts, and dump the analytics. JL should get input from the coaches and scouts, then go with his gut. They must avoid the red flagged players, and avoid the ACL players.
    .
Yes, there is hope, and the Niners could avoid a losing season if JG, Mckinnon and Street return strong from their injuries. This team is not devoid of talent, but the coaching needs upgrading, too. Hopefully, the coaches will be coaching for their jobs, too.
    .
Oh, and they need a long snapper.

    1. Sebbie… CJB won’t attract a 5th round pick–not unless he returns this season, wins at least three games, and throws 8+ TDs with no picks. Duh.

9ers would be lucky to get a 7th if little changes from today on..

Washington could trade for Carr, or more likely rely on the draft.

      1. Oh, Cassie can’t you see that Sisyphus just wants the team to win? He thinks outside the box (and reality). But if you listened to him you could be like the Raiders who heeded his timely advice and turned the Mack trade into first-round draft picks in 2019 and 2020, a sixth-rounder next year and a third-rounder in 2020! CJB has been a starter in this league and Grant has proved his numbers aren’t bad. He has to be worth at least a fifth-rounder! Plus he’s on his rookie contract! You are just like Baalke, keeping the team back. The stench of it!

        1. East, you kinda sound delirious. Are you OK?
          .
Your pushback against me smacks of desperation, but maybe that is an east coast trait.

          1. Mockery, those to whom it is directed seldom understand it. Try a binky. More your speed.

              1. Oh, how original.
                .
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.- OW

              2. East, maybe you should actually stick to football.
                .
Your vain attempts at mockery just define you.

              3. No, when they do 8 out of 10 things in the draft, I feel perfectly comfortable discussing football.
                .
The 2 things they did not do in the 2017 draft was- Avoiding the unforced errors, and now, after the Foster fiasco, avoiding the red flagged players.

      2. Maybe the Niners could bundle CJB with another player that fits a need, and get a fifth, or even a 4th round pick.
        .
Considering the Skin’s dire need to upgrade the QB position, CJB is a tough competitor, and the grandson of Bobby Beathard.

    2. Robbie will be back. You know how hard it is to find reliable place kickers? And this man has been very valuable. Unless someone better comes available. And the better kickers aren’t coming on the market

      1. Gould does not take kick offs. Pinion does.
        .
There are kickers who can make 60+ yard field goals. Gould cannot.
        .
I like Gould. He is accurate. However, the college ranks have produced some long range kickers, so good kickers are coming on the market.

          1. « an actual journalist »

Calling anyone from 49erswebzone a journalist is pretty funny

    1. SS- CFL football player with a mediocre coaching career. Let go from USC because he was drunk, and now has the Falcon offense flailing.
      .
Sure sounds like he does not listen to criticism, but should.

      1. Just sayin’ Sebbie, just sayin’….. A matter that goes back since the dawn of sports and coaching.

  9. I guess this all depends on what you mean by “Franchise Cornerstone.” When you use that term I think you’re talking about perennial All Pro players that you build an offense or defense around to maximize their strengths. The type of players who are franchise cornerstones are Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Todd Gurley, JJ Watt, Khalil Mack, or Jalen Ramsey. You hope to acquire a nucleus of good players to surround your cornerstones with to build a great team. Saying the 49ers hoped guys like Witherspoon, Colbert, Tartt, Taylor, Tomlinson, or even Goodwin were going to become “franchise cornerstones” is silly. IMO the 49ers acquired those players hoping they would build the nucleus of a good team. The only franchise player on the 49er roster right now is Buckner. McGlinchey has a a chance to become a franchise cornerstone. The 49ers hoped Jimmy G would be the franchise cornerstone on offense but that is in doubt. The jury is out on the other nucleus type players. Solomon Thomas, Witherspoon, Colbert, Tartt, Armstead, and Ward have definitely been huge disappointments. Every offseason is important but in particular this is a make or break offseason for the Shanahan regime.

  10. Good article Grant. You made no mention of Person who has exceeded expectations. Maybe Group 3?

IMO, KS and JL should get at least 3 starters (modest target) in the draft for 3 of these positions – Edge, CB , OL because usually players who are good in these categories, don’t become available in FA. Logically the first draft pick should be Defense – either Edge or CB and that pick CANNOT be a miss.

In Free Agency, we should target another Edge, CB and other positions like Safety, LB, TE and WR. Last year the Safety market was rough and I believe this year would be no different. Don’t waste high draft picks for WR, instead look for decent free agents (meaning no splashy names). We should also be able to get solid LBs in Free agency.

I would look at getting another Undrafted Rookie RB (just as insurance for Mckinnon) and also depth for most critical positions – WR, TE, OL, DL, LB with undrafted rookies.

I believe this team is not too far off from being .500. With everyone learning on the job, the next season should have significant improvement. But I still think they are a long way off from the Rams or the Saints to contend in the NFC.

  11. Fair article Coach. Nothing much to argue with there. Well done. I can’t wait to see the “Examining the State of the Forty Niners Coaching Staff”, followed by “Examining the State of the Forty Niner Front Office”. It would be a great three part series and a thorough examination of the entire organization. Though you often give your opinion on the top guys, and rarely if ever talk about the entire staff, (Who are they?) I’d like to see a piece about everybody paying these players, drafting the players, signing the players, along with coaching the players, where they stand in your opinion, and whether they are worthy of continuing with the team into the future. Ditto for the ownership and front office group. Looking forward to it.

  12. How can Gould be a cornerstone but McGlinchey can’t unless he moves to left tackle?

Considering the number of quality rushers that come from the right side, I think both tackles need to be quality pass pro players.

  13. Missed opportunities, can’t think of a better way to describe the past two seasons under this front office.

Between wasted draft picks, high dollar contracts to scrubs and wash ups, and holding onto players far longer then they should this team has been managed right into the cellar dweller that it is.

Couple non-draft moves I’ve been wringing my hands over is the team continuing to hold onto Armstead and not trading Staley when they had the opportunity.

    1. Nah, we traded Trent Brown because he wasn’t a system fit. Staley, he will play until we win the next Super Bowl.

  14. Is this a joke grant? I’m not the biggest Solomon Thomas fan but to call him expendable after his second season where he suffered family trauma in the off season is laughable. Another thing, the best d tackle after Aaron Donald is Chris Jones of the Chiefs. Buckner disappears through the course of a game way too much. I think everybody’s being to hard ok akhello. He’s not very good no doubt but he’s a had a few bad calls go against him. It’s also very difficult to play corner with no pass rush.

  15. So the 9ers need to replace 18 to 20 players in order to be a 500 team. And how are they going to do that with 5draft picks. No one in the league is that desperate to trade for any one listed in Grant’s 1-3 group. So trading the 1 or 2pick will get any extra 2 picks this year’s who that’s 7-8 picks. Free agency might pick up 4-5 so now up to 13-14 still need 4-6 players. This tells me we will need another 2-3 year’s to be consistently competitive provided Lynch ‘s can bat 1000.
Based on this the best course of action is to get rid of the owners and front office along with the coaching staff or Grant is out in left field?

    1. Grant is in a safe position where he can pitch rocks all day and he’s out of reach–can’t be touched. And he loves it.

Highly unlikely ownership will change. Niners will stay in the York family for generations–huge cash cow.

Best we can hope for is gradual improvement with the core elements the 9ers have today–GM, HC, and key players. That path could bring better than .500 seasons by 2020 on beyond. If the current rebuild deteriorates badly–some will say it already has–then were faced with a new HC and GM in 2019 or 2020 and it’s back to square one or two. And won’t that make Grant and others ecstatic.

I think we’ll have much more clarity about the near-term future as 2019 OTAs give way to training camp–after the draft, signing of free agents, and a trade or two.

      1. Cassie – You, among others, are so critical of Grant’s observations about the current talent, or more appropriately the lack of talent, on the Niners roster, but answer this question.

Please name 1 (JUST ONE) current 49er defensive player who could start for the Rams. Honestly, Buckner, the Niners best defensive player, only would be the 3rd defensive tackle with the Rams, behind Darnold and Suh.

On offense, I could see where Kittle could be the sole starter on the Niners who could crack the starting 11 for the Rams. McGlinchey, at the start of the season, would not have made the starting 11.

Name one, just 1, starting Niner offensive player who can crack the starting 11 for the Saints. Kittle would be just the lone player for whom you might make a tenable argument.

Too many tout the talents of Goodwin, Garcon, McKinnon, if healthy and for whom the Niners spent $30MILLION; however, the success of so many low round RBs and even more undrafted RBs succeeding in the zone run scheme, the Niners dramatically and in a gross misjudgment overpaid.

Not one 49er wide receiver could be among the top 4 for the Rams or the Saints when their top 4 all are healthy.

You have to be honest and to separate the pretenders from the contenders and the suspects from the prospects, and for a FAN, short for fanatic, that is a tough and most likely impossible job.

Homer and honest both start with the letter “h”, and that’s about as close as those two words can be used in the same sentence.

Sometimes the truth is hard to swallow, but if you don’t face it you never can improve.

No participation trophies in the NFL!!!!!!

        1. Mike,

To fair that’s one of the bigger issues most fans have with Grant. When he was ranting against Kyle he wasn’t also saying how devoid the team was in terms of talent, or breaking down the matchups. He was saying this team has talent and should be winning a lot more games.
I would argue talent acquisition and or development has been his biggest issue. Yes, he has some other issues but that’s the big one. Every game this year minus the Oakland and AZ games the 49ers have fielded the lesser roster. Yes, they could make up some points with coaching but they normally look across the sidelines and go we might have 5 guys that could start for them you know the team is basically devoid of talent.
I’m not even arguing he has been a good coach, just acknowledging how bad this roster is.

          1. Shoup – if the roster is bad, as you say, then who is responsible for those guys comprising the roster??? these draft picks, FAs and guys off the streets did not just walk in the door without an invite.

how many players have been brought in by Shanny and Lynch the past two off-seasons via FA signings and drafts. their work product in that regard has to be evaluated, too.

as of this date, their grades are below the Mendoza line!!

        2. Yes, the Rams have a far superior roster than what we have. But yet 2 years ago we swept the Rams. Oh, the Rams had a bad HC (Fisher) and we’ve had bad luck. Let’s just keep plugging away.

          1. Yes, 2 years ago they had a bad head coach and some pretty talented players on their roster. Since then they found a head coach who wasn’t allergic to offense and improved their roster quite a bit.

The problem is, in two years time this roster hasn’t improved that much. They have to get it right this offseason.

  16. Looking back at the state of the Niners, I think they could have avoided this train wreck by going in another direction.
    .
They should have hired Anthony Lynn instead of KS.
    .
Anthony Lynn is a former Niner, is a SB winner, and had head coaching experience.
    .
He was on the short list for the Niners, but they let the Chargers grab him. AL sure has the Chargers playing well, and he knows how to finish games. AL was smart enough to hire an OC. Ken Whisenhunt has been a HC before, and had been the Chargers OC before.

      1. Yes, but McVay was lured to the Rams with the promise of having Wade Phillips as DC. The Rams were loaded with talent, but were under achieving, whereas the Niners were in full rebuild mode.
        .
The Rams had more to offer, and SM was smart to go to a better situation with a better potential for success.

      2. Rams are loaded with talent. If McVay was with us I would expect the same results that KS has at the moment. I agree that the Niner’s need a well- seasoned Defensive coordinator.

    1. Thanks for the share Scooter,
He’s an intriguing prospect for certain. I definitely hope whoever we get can manage to stay on the field as this seems to be a major problem with our recent draft picks.

  17. They are trying to build an explosive offense. This explains why they struggle in the RZ and 4 min offense when things get tight. Of course they would like to have O-lineman that can be both athletic and powerful, but there’s not too many of those guys. McGlinchey could be both. I think they hope Garnett will be both, we’ll see.

We have explosive HBs (Mckinnon and Breida), but no short yardage back. Hopefully Mr. Wilson can be that guy.

We have explosive WRs/TE (Quise, Pettis, and Kittle), but we don’t have that guy that can make contested catches consistently. It doesn’t have to be a 6’6″ guy, think Anquan.

We still have spots on our roster that can be used to improve our short game. Garcon is likely gone, Bourne and Taylor are replaceable. I expect a 2nd TE to be drafted/signed at some point. Like Bourne and Taylor, both Gs are replaceable.

  18. https://www.49erswebzone.com/articles/121722-despite-criticism-donte-whitner-ahkello-witherspoon-all-pro-cornerback/

“Whitner even used a telestrator and slow motion just to show just how worthless Witherspoon is at his profession,” wrote 49ers beat writer Grant Cohn of the Press Democrat, who put a spotlight on Whitner’s Instagram posts.”

“While Whitner was critical of Witherspoon, it doesn’t mean he believes the second-year cornerback can’t excel in the NFL. He certainly doesn’t view him as “worthless.” The opposite is actually true, according to Whitner, who joined KNBR earlier this week.”

“If you watch him, athletically, he can do everything,” Whitner said of Witherspoon on the “Gary & Larry” show. “He can run, he can change direction, he can bend. There’s not too many guys that are six-feet-plus that can do the things that he did.”

“If he continues to grow and he continues to focus on the fundamentals, he can be a Pro Bowl, All-Pro cornerback,” Whitner added.”

    Nice try though Grant.

        1. He’s been trying to walk back the negative stuff around that since it was put on blast.

            1. Maybe the point should be why such a talented guy is playing so poorly. It’s kind of a forest vs. trees thing for me.

              1. Nothing wrong with us agreeing Mid. Seemed like the conversation strayed off into Walking Back or something. ?

          1. “He’s been trying to walk back the negative stuff around that since it was put on blast.”

Not really. He hasn’t backed off of saying Spoon needs to be more consistent with his fundamentals and effort, the proof of that is in the link I provided up above.

And the praise for Spoon is nothing new.

            https://49ers.pressdemocrat.com/donte-whitner-rips-ahkello-witherspoon/

“(Witherspoon) shows he has all the physical capabilities to get it done. Good back pedal. Good job widening the receiver, looking back for the ball, getting him toward the sideline.”

            1. Donte also tried to say that Donte didn’t rip anyone, that he was just verbalizing what was on the tape.

Anyone who watched his IG stuff could see that he was being critical, or ripping, on Witherspoon.

              1. “Anyone who watched his IG stuff could see that he was being critical”

Sure, but he hasn’t walked any of that back.

      1. This conversation re Ahkello was started with Whitner.
Personally speaking, it was unprofessional for our boy Grant to piggyback off Whitner’ analysis by adding his own opinion.
Calling Witherspoon worthless at his profession was not the point Whitner was making – not even close.

You can step up and champion Grant’ comments all you want.
But anyway you cut it, Grant violated Whitner’ comments to throw in a “cheap shot.”

  19. 9ers 23, Broncos 16

I’ve been wrong on scores all season…let’s keep the streak going.

    1. Tomorrow will be more of the same. Mistakes sink the team. People will blame the defense but it will be the turnovers that make the difference.
23-20 in favor of the Broncos.

More people will question whether the shine is off Shanahan.

      1. Tomorrow’s game will have Rudy-like qualities… Jerry Goldsmith’s ‘The Final Game’ score will blast through Levi’s as the clock runs down late in the 4th quarter. The 9ers drive 57 yards on 3 plays, setting up a game winning field goal with :02 seconds left–ball on the Denver 28. Robbie G. takes a muffed snap 36 yards for the winning TD with no time left on the clock–breaking 5 tackles along the way. Players will rush the field and carry him off. Not a dry eye in the house…not even Grant’s…

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-wZN3JCB_g&index=10&list=PLGEq9JwTIo4uR_5mFgnwRLCT25pk_E5ze

        1. The 9ers go on to win out the rest of 2018, and are undefeated in 2019, winning their 6th Super Bowl. Robbie Gould becomes legend, and 25 years later gets a 12′ bronze statue outside 9ers HQ.

      2. “Mistakes sink the team.”

I’m worried about our new long snapper sailing a snap for a safety.

We’ll see just how good (or not so good) McGlinchey is in pass protection this week. Big challenge for the rookie, this is the guy I’ll be watching closely tomorrow.

        Den 22
        SF 13

        1. Good point 80, a big test for the rookie against a good rush. Something to watch for sure. New long snapper is also an interesting thing to watch.

        2. McG will get toasted a few times but he needs to feel the top pro’s moves to learn. 49ers lose the rest of the games this season by 10-17 points and get the 1st pick in the draft, no new news, hopefully trading down…..Den 27…SF 16.

      1. Why….the truth hurts?…….and spare is the none politics on the blog….we heard you and don’t give a F……

        1. How cute. I could really care less if you like me, but going off on any politician or people that support him/her on a sports blog page without anyone bringing them up is just nuts dude.

          1. It’s the American thing to do……btw never said I never liked you……just don’t care of u

            1. The American thing to do is suddenly rant or freak out about something that has nothing to do with the topic of the ongoing conversation? That’s news to me. Oh well, now I know that when I am discussing my work day with a friend and some stranger runs up to us to rant about a bird that messed up his windshield that they are just doing their American duty.

              1. If I had a penny for everytime someone made an comment not related to the blog topic ….i would be a billionaire….

It’s not my fault you have a low iq and limited to discuss issues that affect all around the world…..just because you are dumb/slow does not mean we all have to be…….

Sure it’s a sport blog….you don’t need a college degree to know that…but to keep hiding behind that and refuse to rant or let out facts that affect us all is being unamerican…

              2. I won’t deny that there are topics that are brought up that have nothing to do with the blog topic, but they usually aren’t brought up in the form of a random rant or freak out. Insulting me just to feel good about yourself and your rant is because you have low self-esteem or a holier than thou complex akin to what Seb glorifies in on here; I can’t be 100% sure, but usually those are the two reasons behind that type of behavior. Finally, you are stating your opinion in your rant and not facts. I know plenty of people that claim it is a fact that Trump is a moron, Obama is a moron, both of them are morons, or neither one is a moron. However, stating an opinion as a fact does not make it a fact.

              3. Wait….i write one sentence about Trump and your response is violence…..and I am the one with low self esteem….ha ha ha….

You are a moron…….you shouldnt deny that one either….

              4. My response about smacking someone was meant to be taken as a joke and nothing more. The choice to channel Seb by proclaiming that your opinion hurts in response to it is your own doing. However, continuing to insult me like you are certainly makes it look like I hit the nail on the head in regards to your self-esteem.

              5. Sorry dude….the only thing low is my opinion of you and your comments….

Not only are you clueless….you are a follower of the crowd…..

Being on this blog long before you knew what a browser meant…..people like you come and go all the time…….better stay on your lane…..or you will be exposed……

              6. We know you really not that smart if you thought comparing Obama and Trump made sense…..

No…One can read the other cannot
One grabs pussies and cheats on wife….the other doesn’t….
One is rolling with Russia the other is not….
One is a good example of how men should be raised….the other is not

Honestly Mid…..you fell for it…..i was hoping you would say something stupid like this…..

I know plenty of people that claim it is a fact that Trump is a moron, Obama is a moron, both of them are morons, or neither one is a moron.

Just shows how limited and simple minded you are……all you do is follow ……grow sum balls dude and take a stand…..

              7. The fact that you say I compared Trump and Obama shows that you only read what you wanted to, and continuing to insult me shows how low your self-esteem is. Sorry Oneniner, but like Seb, you are not worth my time in trying to have an intellectual conversation with.

              8. Ok….since you keep bringin it up….thought it’s best i explain low esteem to you

                Signs of Low Self-Esteem

                Sensitivity to criticism.
                Social withdrawal.
                Hostility.
                Excessive preoccupation

You are sensitive to criticism even if not directed to you…..this was about Trump but because of your low esteem you made it yours.

Social withdraw…..you do spend too much time online……

Hostility …..the first response to my comment was hostile…..recommending violence…..you say it’s a home by i don’t recall ever laughing with you ever….

Excessive preoccupation ……why do you keep bringing up seb……this has nothing to do with seb

                see my point…..?

              9. you say it’s a joke but i…….

And fyi….not a fan of seb but no doubt he is way smarter than you….

Why the need to put him down in your responses to me……low self esteem anyone?

See bro….we are not on the same level…..

              10. Seriously dude, move on already and get over yourself. I have no interest in dropping to your level. Unlike 23Jordan, I do not look forward to see how despicable you can be . It just isn’t worth my time. Rant on; I mean, you are going to anyway, right?

      1. According to Oneniner, it is the American thing to do by ranting or freaking out about something completely irrelevant. So the next time you hug a relative, remember to burst into a rant about the steak your neighbor accidentally burned 10 years ago when his spouse invited you over for dinner. It is the American way after all. ??

  20. http://walterfootball.com/draft2019stock_14.php

“Ferrell improved his run defense this year and looks stronger at the point of attack, but teams do not view him as an explosive edge rusher in the mold of a Myles Garrett or Von Miller. “I don’t think [Ferrell] was ever that fast and explosive,” said an AFC national scout. In a strong class of defensive linemen, it could be hard for Ferrell to crack the top 10.”

“Another prospect who multiple team sources feel is very overrated is LSU cornerback Greedy Williams. “[Williams] is extremely overrated, just watch the Georgia tape,” said one general manager. In speaking to a director of college scouting, they said this about Williams, “I have him late [in Round 1]. I like him, but he doesn’t have the speed to get an elite grade.”

    1. At this point it will depend on how they perform in any bowl games and all star games along with combine.

The season of talking down players has begun.

      1. I have a feeling Ferrell will test poorly at the combine.Greedy was less impressive midway into the season for mine. Murphy has been better….

        1. I should have just read this comment before replying. Exactly my thoughts.

I actually doubt Ferrell will do many of the drills to avoid the risk of testing poorly. But yeah, on film he looks a good technician with only ok athleticism.

          1. Ferrell like Bosa is a better player than athlete. They are both very good at hand fighting and adjusting their routes to the quarterback. Athletic freaks they are not, they are not the type to just blow past some or turn the corner with a motorcycle lean.

    2. I think Ferrell will still end up being a top 10 pick, but I think at least four edge rushers will get drafted before him. Williams though is definitely overrated. The hype surrounding him reminds me of Darqueze Dennard.

      1. This is part of the reason I am not a huge fan of trading back in this draft. Perhaps a slight trade back would be ok if they stay in the top 7 but you just don’t know how many of these guys will be taken early. I would be seriously disappointed if we ended up with Jackson or Sweat unless they were our second edge rusher drafted.

    3. I think the combine will not be Ferrell’s friend if he decides to participate in drills. He reminds me of Derek Barnett. As Mid said, I think he quite easily could end up falling a bit, with a few edge players taken before him.

Also not surprised to read this about Williams. Didn’t see the top 5-10 lockdown CB I had been led to believe he is. Actually, whenever I watched film of Williams (or LSU) I kept seeing Delpit making plays. Delpit is easily the best player on that D. Probably the best safety in college football right now.

      1. I’ve read that a lot of Ferrell’s production has been due to Clemson’s scheming, getting him into situations where he is unblocked. Something to look for when there’s more tape (YouTube videos).

        1. I watched a few games of his last year before he decided to stay in college and I didn’t notice that. Not saying it didn’t happen, but not something I noticed. He’s a good player with nice size and length and has a good array of moves, but he doesn’t seem to be particularly explosive.

        2. #80,

I don’t see that when I watch Ferrell, in fact I see him creating opportunities for the rest of the Dline with all the attention he commands. I don’t think he’s as good as Bosa, but he will be a pretty good player.

    4. Ha, glad to see someone else finally say that Greedy is overrated. DeAndre Baker is the top corner in this draft.

Chase Winovich is going to start climbing up people’s boards after his week in Mobile.

    1. Bosa, Allen, Sweat, and Polite. I see Williams as more of a DT, but I do think he goes in the top five.

      1. I got Allen, Bosa and Polite but couldn’t think of who else and though I believe Williams is a DT, I thought maybe you meant him.

I could certainly see Allen and Polite going first though not certain of Sweat.

One of the things I like about Ferrell is his track record. He’s been good for sometime.

  21. Really cannot designate players to final rankings until the Bowl games, Senior, East/West and Combine.
    .
Then if Kentavius Street comes back fully rehabiltated, moving back and selecting the best player available may be the best move.
    .
Everything depends on free agency, too.
    .
Right now, one pundit has 1 QB, 2 OT, 6 WR and the rest (23) Defenders in the top 32. That will change with several teams in desperate need of a QB.

    1. Lets just hope for once that the acl red shirt works for us. Hopefully Street can give some toughness to this line.

  22. Off topic, but congratulations to Kyler Murray for winning the Heisman this year. The kid lit up defenses all season long. Well deserved.

  23. Should be an entertaining game tomorrow. Spread has gone from Den -6 to -3.5 (O/U 45) Denver has to win to stay in the playoff hunt. Forty Niners have nothing to lose. Good combination. I smell an upset. Denver is giving up 260.8 passing YPG (23rd) and 122.1 Rushing YPG (23rd). Niners are 12th and 13th. Offensive categories are almost identical. Biggest difference is of course the turnover ratio. Denver is +8, the Niners -20. Take the Niners +3.5 and the over (45).

    SF 26 DEN 24

RIP Anthony York. Very sad. Prayers to the York family. Far too young.

    1. If the Niners can stymie Phillip Lindsay, they have a chance.
      .
      Niners, 24-23.
      .
RIP Anthony York. There has been a lot of loss and pain lately. HWB was 94, so it was expected, but AY was so young. I also hope the Camp fire relatives can find their missing loved ones.

    2. The talent differential is pretty big in this game.
The only thing that might keep this game close is the fact that they do not have a great QB, who could really take advantage of our defenses biggest weakness.

  24. Rewatching the 2011 NFCCG. Good reminder of how far this organization has fallen. The only guy on the current defense that might start with that group is Buckner.

  25. I’m really starting to feel apathetic towards this place. The articles lately are TMZ level. This guy sucks, that guy sucks. Forget about what they did before, now is all that matters and they need to go. Fire the Coaches and start all over again. So freakin’ boring.

    1. Calling out players, coaches and owners when the team is playing miserably is Grant’s schtick. Best to get over it. Do those three deserve it? Hell yes. Some of us here are bored watching the 49ers play like exactly what they are, the worst team in the NFL. In terms of competition, the only thing they have done is unseat the Cleveland Browns for the number one pick. I’ve been following the team since my first game in 1955. Had season tickets for 25 years. There were a lot of times when the team played reasonable enough to justify not going negative but certainly not during the York years. If you want to hear positive about this team, look somewhere else but don’t blame a guy who’s stock in trade is calling it like he sees it.

      1. WC, we may have had some arguments in the past, but I can say right now, you are astute, and the voice of reason.
        .
Rocket is whining about how I and others are critical of this team as if the Niners were 10-2 and poised to go to the SB. Wrong. They are 2-10, and deserve every bit of criticism they get, because of what they put on the field.
        .
I am mad because they are not even trying to win. They are content to lose, even purposely tanking and not even trying to hide it.
        .
Oh how I long for those Glory Years.

        1. Yeah Sebbie…you feel he’s the voice of reason until you don’t… Chameleon.

      2. Anybody who has been here for an extended anount of time knows I’m not a homer who wants nothing but positive reinforcement. My point is that the style of writing we have been subjected to over the past few weeks is boring because it’s the same hit piece material every time.

If you find it entertaining and worthy of your time good for you. I don’t.

    2. For me, Grant’s scorched earth style is numbing. I do appreciate the unpleasant issues facing the 9ers (yes Grant, I do), but whipping up sandstorms of immense proportions over selected (and random?) matters is wearing. Lately we seem to have more sandstorms where visibility is next to zero (difficult to see the larger picture and understand the greater context) and they are of such emotional fury that one has difficulty getting past the personal anger of one individual to understand the larger concern.

I don’t expect Grant to change. It’s given that he loves to posture and issue flashy judgement. Not asking him to become a stooge for the Yorks, a toady (you go Sebbie!) for the GM and HC, or a giddy cheerleader for every player. Would be cool if a bit more objectivity would be allowed to take root while peeling away just a bit of anger and snark. What is objectivity anyway?

Why do I come to this blog? As many others have shared, I am drawn here because of the input of the crowd–most of it is informative and occasionally hysterical.

Certainly is an interesting time in the evolution of Grant’s career–at least it seems that way for more than a few of us looking on. Wonder if Grant’s trajectory–as it appears today–will be something he’ll be proud of 30+ years from now?

      1. Cassie – You among others who are critical of Grant’s analysis of the roster cannot name 1 49er defensive player who is good enough to start for the RAMS and maybe the only offensive player who can crack the starting line-up of both the Rams and the Saints might be Kittle.

Buckner on the Rams roster would be the 3rd best defensive tackle, behind Donald and Suh.

Get real, the Niners are lacking significantly in talent.

McKinnon was a huge reach as a FA signing at RB even if he stayed healthy because evaluations of performances across the league by RBs reveal that FREE AGENTS and low round draft picks are doing as well in zone run schemes as higher round draft picks.

You will see an undrafted FA at RB today for the Broncos who is doing very well in a very similar run scheme as Shanny runs. Terrell Davis, Alfred Morris and Adrian Foster are other examples of low round picks or undrafted Free Agents in previous years who have dominated in a zone run scheme.

Also, by the way, I don’t see 1 49er WR who can crack the top 4 receivers either at the Rams or Saints.

Gould and Pinon can’t top healthy a Rams or Saints kicker or punter either.

The Niners are what they are for a myriad of reasons, and talent, or the lack of talent, is the main reason, and then you seriously have to look at who is evaluating, acquiring and developing the talent.

A fish rots from the head!!!!!!!

        1. Mike…

I am critical of Grant’s style, his schtick. I’ve never contested his assessment of 9er defensive (even offensive) players on purely football matters. When the assessment triggers over-the-top, sometimes vicious characterization, that’s another thing entirely.

Again Mike, my issue with Grant is style.

I will admit that his trashing of first year players–before there is much history if any to draw conclusions from–is a bit much. But then that’s back to schtick.

          1. Cassie – I do agree that you cannot blame or find fault with the players who are drafted too early or the FAs who are signed and overpaid and are considered reaches because none of them held a gun to Shanny’s or Lynch’s heads and forced the decisions. You would not turn down that money and opportunity either if they came to you with that kind of a gift!

Lynch, so far, is version 2 of Matt Millen of Lion fame, and Shanny should stick to coaching if he indeed is the engine driving these draft picks and FA signings as he is proving once again that coaches should stick to coaching.

All of the above are legitimate reasons why the Niners need an elder statesman advising and consulting with Lynch and Shanny on personnel moves – draft picks as well as FAs

        1. That’s scary. If I write about sea cucumber communities, what does that say… Yikes!

        2. Yea, I’ve heard you are what you eat, but “you are what you write about”? Can’t say as I’ve ever heard that one before….

            1. I don’t know…is the guy who wrote, If I Was A Rich Man, in fact wealthy? That might be worth writing about.

  26. “A good rule of thumb is that coverage creates sacks and pressure creates turnovers. You won’t find a team that creates less pressure than the 49ers, who basically have DeForest Buckner and a bunch of dudes who rush the passer as if they’re auditioning for roles as extras in the original Power Rangers…

While the lack of a pass rush has created plenty of issues for this unit, it has also put them in position to make history. Bad history… never has a team had single-digit takeaways in a season.”

    1. Doesn’t matter what Grant says. This team is not good. No Bueno!

Anyone could have seen, and some of us loudly proclaimed, the need for a decent pass rusher. This would have mitigated many of the problems we have witnessed this season. Defensive back woes, lack of take aways, not being able to finish (hold offenses back when it counted).

This issue has had nothing at all to do with injuries. It was a total lack of regard from the FO (and please don’t remind me how they went hard after Mack, that is a non-argument as the Raiders would never have traded Mack to us – and a little too little, too late). It is, by far, the biggest mistake of the season. It engenders very little optimism for what this crew will do, going forward.

While having JG under center may have helped some, the lack of pressure and RZ and 3rd down issues are what have sunk this team.

      1. Not sure I understand the logic of Raiders not wanting to trade to the 49ers. They had to know that a first round draft choice from the 49ers was worth more than one from the Bears. Also, most analysts claim the Raiders got fleeced. Hard to believe that a real competitive run by the 49ers would have been too good to pass up compared to what the Bears got. With Raiders off to LV, there’s no more Bay Area rivalry and it’s an AFC/NFC trade. I think it’s more a situation of what the 49ers and the rest of the world consider a serious run. As usual, the devil is in the details.

        1. Tell that to the Browns who went after JG hard too. Rivalry, whether there is a move or not is still very much in place.

          1. I’m not so sure that Garoppolo being sent to the 49ers was about rivalry as it was about past relations. Belichick had a rough tenure as the coach of the Browns during the 90s, while he and Lynch have maintained a good relationship since Lynch’s short stint with the Patriots near the end of his career.

        2. Whine Country – Maybe Gruden and Davis for 2 years including this current season did not want to see Mack’s name in all of the Bay Area rags weekly with the plays and impact the Niners would be getting from him. Raiders to Vegas move still is 20 regular season games and 4 pre-season games away, so that’s a lot of column inches of copy and TV and radio talk where Mack’s success would be flaunted at the expense of the Raiders decision to unload Mack. Raiders like to pin it all on agent Joel Segal, who also represents Amari Cooper and Karl Joseph, being too tough at the bargaining table, but that’s just an attempt to deflect.

          1. What you say makes sense, Mike. People do strange things. I was just struck by the fact that most believe the Raiders got taken to the cleaners by the Bears. Too bad Lynch won’t just come on out and tell us what they offered so we can evaluate how hard they really went after Mack. I’m more kind a trust but verify guy than some.

        3. Actually, with a healthy JG at the time, the Niners were getting 15 to 1 odds of making the playoffs, and even had SB chatter. Little did they know that Fangio, with Mack, would propel the Bears into leading their division.
          .
The Bears were floundering, and Trubisky looked raw, so the Raiders probably thought they would get better draft picks from the Bears.
          .
Mark Davis also did not want to help the 49ers, because they had to endure all the comparisons from across the bay.

              1. Kevin Frandsen is another clueless tool who thinks he can act like a bombastic, belligerent, bellicose bully, and think he sounds cogent and intelligent.
                .
Spewing epithets and threatening violence just defines you.

              2. Prime, as long as you engage me, I am going to remind you that you said that Kaep took the league by storm.
                .
                Get a clue.

  27. Will be interesting to see how the Packers perform today in the wake of McCarthy’s departure.

  28. Cassie, if you have a chance and if you haven’t already, listen to the interview of Lowell Cohn (LC reflects on 37 year career) with Gary and Larry of KNBR. Great segment and you’ll see where Coach/GM Grant gets his obvious influences. Here’s just a snippet.

Larry Krueger brought up an excellent point: Cohn was sports radio before there was sports radio. His columns in the San Francisco Chronicle and Santa Rosa Press Democrat were famous for taking shots at players, coaches and executives. Everyone read them.

“I never thought of it as power,” Cohn said. “For me, Ioved writing. That’s what I’m trying to do with Grant (his son). Telling stories and my opinion and putting things into words. Power would not have been something I thought about, although, sure, in retrospect, I had it. But stepping away, I don’t feel like I’m stepping away from power.”

Whether it’s a power thing with Coach/GM Grant is a question to ask him. I say yes. There is a lot of power when your thoughts and opinions are being published frequently in a newspaper that is read by thousands. I believe that with that power comes responsibility. It’s up to each individual reader to decide whether he is being responsible. But as Larry says, and it’s true, everybody reads them. I rarely missed a LC column, being introduced to him by my father, who was a big fan and never missed a column, and rarely miss a GC column. Maybe it’s the controversial style that draws people in? When they venture into “heart, sentimental” pieces, as I would call them, LC was without peer, and GC is also spectacular. It is what it is, and nothing is going to change. As is often said, that’s the schtick.

    1. Good summary! It’s the schtick, yes. Theater perhaps…

I still think Grant could be effective (even more effective?) if he blunted his ‘edge’ by 5%–however that would be measured. Just a tad. Grant does develop interesting takes on occasion and does prod thought. If he could just unload 5% of the glass shards, I know I’d get more from his writing. The schtick–when it’s on steroids–is distracting.

      Thanks!

    2. I agree. I, too, read Ira Miller, Glenn Dickey Bob Padecky and Lowell Cohn for years. Back then, newspapers were the king of the hill, and exerted a lot of influence. I remember delivering the Sunday paper, and having to do two loads to get the job done. Now, the Monday paper looks like an old flyer, or insert, because computers are now supreme.
      .
I may have ground my teeth over LC, but I read every word.
      .
Being verbose, I appreciate good writing, schtick and all. Grant is a chip off the old block.

Grant, by calling me a legend, elevates my status,

Did you really think someone on this blog was going to elevate your status?

            1. Grant conferred upon me that legendary status. You should rip Grant, if you disagree.
              .
Prime Time-‘ Kaep took the league by storm. ‘ That is your legacy.

              1. Still cannot figure out how to cut and paste quotes can you?
Take a computer class status boy!

              2. Prime, I do not need to cut and paste.
                .
I sure am glad you admitted that Kaep took the league by storm.
                .
And as long as you engage me, I get to remind you of your past statement.

Grant, by calling me a legend, elevates my status,

That’s great because this quote will always demonstrate how pathetic you are. Date, time and content.
                Priceless!

                FU Seb!

              4. Prime, when you said that Kaep took the league by storm, did you think that I would let you say that without ever reminding you, that you said that? I really thought you did not like Kaep.
                .
Sure am glad that you said that.

                Proof. Date. Time. Content.User.
True pathetic insecurity at its finest.

              6. Prime, you stated that Kaep took the league by storm. He may do it again, once the Butt Fumbler implodes and they run out of QBs.
                .
Jags probably regret not signing Kaep. They went from the AFCC Game to being out of the playoffs.

      1. seb, sorry I made you grind your teeth. I appreciate your mentioning Ira Miller, Glenn Dickey and Bob Padecky. I still am close friends w/ Ira and Glenn. Glenn and I live near each other and, although Ira moved to the Chicago area, we talk often. Two years ago Ira and I shared a New York City vacation. What fun. LC

        1. Sir, you made me grind my teeth, but in hindsight, I realized that your columns were master motivational tools , so Bill Walsh strived hard to prove you wrong. The results were spectacular.
          .
I must commend you on raising your son so well. (Even though you are not Steve Young) ;p

You must be very proud of him.

  29. Doesn’t really matter who said or didn’t say it Seb, it’s true. He did take the league by storm. That’s not debatable. But, like all storms, they fizzle out, dissipate, and eventually disappear. So is the case here. :)

    1. Juan, it is also not debatable that Prime stated Kaep took the league by storm.
      .
You may think he will never do it again, but I beg to differ.

        1. Prime, when you stated that Kaep took the league by storm, did you realize that I would make you eat your words?

          1. Yeah, sure am eating those words. He’s out of the league 2 years now in case you have not noticed.

            FU status boy!

              1. You think? That’s your problem. You don’t have the capability to think.

Go trim a bush and F off with your stupidity.

              2. Prime, did you know that I like to get the last word?
                .
Yes, Kaep did take the league by storm, but you seem to be a slow learner.

              3. Prime, since you like to engage me, I will remind you that Kaep is a SB QB, who was 5 yards from winning it all, after storming back from a large deficit.
                .
Kaep also hold playoff rushing records. 181 yards against GB was very impressive.

              4. No need to explain to me. You have a self confidence issue you need to work through. Go ahead, fix that.

Grant, by calling me a legend, elevates my status,

              5. Prime, Kaep will take the league by storm, once he wins his lawsuit. Glad you agree that he took the league by storm. Guess you want me to expand on the subject of Kaep, so I will be happy to oblige.

              6. You should oblige the need for status. Insecurity is a demon you must resolve.
Please tell me you are not waiting for Kap to play again so you will have elevated status?

Grant, by calling me a legend, elevates my status,

              7. Prime, since you think that Kaep took the league by storm, you should watch his highlights.
                .
Kaep can use his mobility to avoid the pass rush, and he is strong enough to shrug off arm tackles. He has completed jaw dropping throws, has a cannon for an arm, but also can give touch to his passes.
                .
Did you know that Kaep once put his foot on the half yard line, then sprinted upfield untouched for a TD? Very impressive.

  30. So far I’m right Seb and your wrong. That won’t change. As Paul Zimmer would say, “I guarantee it”! Do you want to bet?

    1. Juan, I do not need to bet. I do not want your money.
      .
Please do not pull a Prime, and welch on a bet.
      .
I fully expect that Kaep will play, once he wins his lawsuit.

Grant, by calling me a legend, elevates my status,

    A status storm?

      1. Good. Kaep, with the present rate of QB attrition, may get another chance to play, especially for a team on the cusp of the playoffs.
        .
However, it seems as though many teams would rather lose without Kaep, than win with Kaep.

        1. Well there is only a couple more weeks left. Hopefully for your pathetic case, it happens soon.

Grant, by calling me a legend, elevates my status,

            1. Prime I do not need to waste my time, but some one could easily find it.
              .
You did not deny that you said it for many many posts. Own it.
              .
Bet you really regret saying that, because I have a long memory, and get to throw those words back in your face.

              1. I know what I said but you are too stupid and lazy to find it.
The fact that you’re squirming about it makes me laugh!

                FU status boy!

              2. I am easily amused because I’m confident who I am.
I’m not looking to elevate my status!

              3. Prime, you have no status. You are a notorious foul mouthed bully.
                .
Being a legend, I am not worried about my status at all.
                .
You are the one obsessing about status.

If you’re not worried about your status why are you looking to elevate it?

          1. Time. Date. Content. User.

You have no proof I even said that.
But we definitely know you said:

              1. You need proof. Just like old wind up needs proof to determine collusion.

Let’s see what happens when you challenge 32 billionaires in a court of law.

                This is real proof:

                Not there yet.

                FU Seb!

  32. Seb, as an astute, rabid gambler, I respect your decision not to bet. It would be a stupid bet on your part. I don’t think your stupid. Wise choice. On the other hand, I would make that bet 7 days a week and twice on Sundays. No team will ever sign him. He is radioactive. I can’t find anybody to take that bet. Not even a gentleman’s bet with nothing at stake other than bragging rights. Your excuse that you won’t bet because somebody else somewhere supposedly welched on a bet is rather poignant. Again, I understand. It would be a really lousy bet on your part.

    1. Juan, I am patient. I fully recognize the collusion and blackballing is very strong, and Kaep may not play this season.
      .
However, Kaep is only 31, so he could play for years.

    2. Juan, I apologize. I did not mean to imply you would welch on a bet. I think you are an upstanding individual, and am considering a gentleman’s bet, even though it may take a long time to finalize that bet.
      .
I was just giving a dig at Prime. He seems to be feisty today.

  33. Just out of curiosity Seb, is it your contention that once he wins his lawsuit, if he does, that the league will force a team to sign him? You don’t really think that do you?

    1. Juan, I hope that once he wins his lawsuit, he will void the CBA, which will make him a hero to the players, and be a kick to the teeth to the owners. The players will want him to play. The owners, who like women beaters, will be forced to allow him to play.

  34. Any chance we can get the Live blog up and leave Prime and Sebbie here for a battle to the nubs?

    1. I’ll gladly be banned if it means Seb is as well.
Between the both of you losers, the blog could benefit by you 2 f’ing off and I don’t have to call out your BS any longer.
In fact take Grant with you!

      1. Prime, with your insults and foul mouth, you should be banned.
        .
Just stop engaging me, it really is that simple. Get a clue.

    2. Jack …
it wouldn’t matter either way… cuz a certain immature 12 year old
will… most likely .. invade the live blog with his incessant babble .. again…
so-o-o … it’s a “pick yer poison” kinda deal …and who would you rather
scroll passed … Prime .. or the immature 12 year old .. ?

  35. Hey Seb, I can be wrong. Here is the evidence! Lol, my preseason prognostication of the upcoming season results. Of course, that was before all the devastating injuries. At least I have them winning today, and the score is actually fairly close. I said yesterday 26-24 Niners. Back then, 30-27 Niners. Let’s hope one is right!!

    1. Juan, I am consistent, but have been consistently wrong on my score predictions.
